Hey everyone, how are you doing? I wanted to share with you this meditation that is especially helpful during times of turmoil, during times where we might not be in control of everything going around out in the world. We are oftentimes in control of our breath, of our breathing. So, I’d like to share this with you.
For those of you who are familiar with meditation, this is going to seem pretty familiar. And for those of you who have maybe not practiced it, just know it’s like me just telling you a story. All you’ve got to do is just listen, join in, and breathe in a way that’s comfortable for you.
And maybe some of you might not want to do a meditation. That’s perfectly fine. You could just close your eyes.
And if anyone’s watching, they’ll just assume that you’re just taking a nap, and take it from me as a father, it makes a whole lot of sense to young ones. Anyways, let’s get to the meditation.
Preparing for Your Meditation Practice
All right. In order to prepare for the guided earth meditation, you might want to find a place that’s comfortable. Maybe your favorite chair.
Maybe it’s your bed, wherever is comfortable for you to sit. We just want to make sure that you’re in a place that’s comfortable. And for some people, they might prefer to close their eyes or keep their eyes open.
It’s for you to do whatever it is that works best for you. But the basic idea is that we want to just make sure that you’re going to have some time for yourself for the next 10 or so minutes to be able to breathe in and breathe out and feel at peace. All right.
The body
Ready to try it out? Let’s go. All right. So what you want to do is you want to just breathe in a way that’s comfortable for you.
Breathing in through the nose and breathing out through the mouth. You can also breathe in through the nose and breathe out through the nose. All of that is perfectly fine.
We are using what’s called a cleansing breath that our ancestors used, and we are breathing in and breathing out. And as you continue to breathe in and breathe out, there might be thoughts that come to your mind. You might even be aware of the sounds in your environment.
Non-judgmentally, we bring it back to the breath. Breathing in and breathing out.
Connecting to the Ground and Your Body
Breathing in and breathing out. As you continue to breathe in and breathe out at a rhythm that’s comfortable for you, I’d like to invite you now to just notice the feeling of your feet against the ground. And we acknowledge that our feet have been with us for many, many years.
And we acknowledge that our feet have allowed for us to move from one destination to another destination, going from one journey to another journey. Yet still, to this day, in their own unique way, even our feet contribute to the meditation, helping us to feel grounded and connected to this moment. As we breathe in and breathe out.
Breathing in and breathing out. Continuing to breathe in and breathe out at a rhythm that’s comfortable for you, in a way that’s natural for you. We now bring our awareness to the feeling of our back as you breathe in and breathe out.
Acknowledging the spine, breathing in and breathing out. We acknowledge that the back too has been around for many, many years. And we acknowledge that our back also allows for us to sit in a way that’s comfortable.
To move and to shift when necessary, and maybe even to stand up when necessary. Yet still, to this day, in its own unique way, even our back contributes to the meditation, helping us to feel grounded and connected to this moment. As you breathe in and breathe out.
The Earth
Breathing in and breathing out. Continuing to breathe in and breathe out at a rhythm that’s comfortable. We acknowledge the back, and we acknowledge our feet against the ground.
And now I’d like to invite you to visualize, to imagine that you can see below the feet, below the foundation of the building that you find yourself in. Noticing the soil, noticing the earth, zooming out and acknowledging our planet itself. Breathing in and breathing out.
Breathing in and breathing out. We acknowledge the earth. And we acknowledge that the planet too has been around for many, many more years.
And that the planet has also been through many different challenges. Yet still, to this day, in its own unique way, even the planet contributes to our meditation. It provides sustenance for us.
It provides an atmosphere that protects us. And it’s through this very atmosphere, through the proliferation of oxygen, that very oxygen allows for us, permits us to breathe in and breathe out. Breathing in and breathing out.
We acknowledge our bodies and we acknowledge our minds. And even in those times where you might doubt the body or doubt the mind, always remember that you have an infinite creativity, so that you can recognize that as you breathe, the earth breathes with you. Breathing in and breathing out.
Concluding Our Guided Earth Meditation
Breathing in and breathing out. When you’re ready, take in one more deeper breath and let it go. You can now open your eyes feeling fully revitalized, ready to continue on the rest of your day.
This is the Guided Earth Meditation. The Guided Earth Meditation is useful in situations where we need to feel connected to something greater. It’s a non-denominational thing, but just know that there are some times where you might need to remember that you’re part of this earth.
We might need to remember how vast nature is, how important it is. And because we are also of nature, it is to remember how important you are too. And that some of the things that might be problems in this moment, in the grand schema of things, will work themselves out.
It might require some infinite creativity, it might require some patience, some action, some boundary setting. But ultimately, it is for you to know that we got to live this life one breath at a time. Breathing in and breathing out.
Thank you very much. If this was helpful, like, subscribe, share, save it for the next time that you’d like to practice with me doing the Guided Earth Meditation. Take care.
