Racial Trauma Recovery
Healing Our Past Using Rhythm and Processing
Learn Rhythm and Processing (RAP)
Racial trauma is a systemic issue. It rewires the nervous system, alters identity, and shapes entire communities.
That’s why this book exists. Racial Trauma Recovery introduces Rhythm and Processing (RAP), an approach that goes beyond conventional therapy by integrating anti-racist psychotherapy, transforming complex trauma, and cultural healing practices.
A key component of healing involves memory reconsolidation. When we understand how our brains work, we can use music, video, and culture to help people to permanently heal from trauma,
Here’s what you’ll gain:
- How to understand racial trauma and its links with complex PTSD.
- The RAP framework developed by Archer based on his work in urban centres and Indigenous communities.
- How therapists can learn an easy to use adjunctive approach for those struggling with dissociation and complex trauma.
A Glimpse Inside
Rhythm refers to the collaborative interaction between client and therapist.
Processing represents the transmutation of suffering into wisdom. RAP is designed to address socially constructed forms of suffering in general, but special attention is given to racial trauma in particular.
RAP improves well-being by utilizing highly effective therapeutic interventions (or strategies) from different modalities. The goal is to empower all trauma survivors who come from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and identities.
