What is EMDR Therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based psychotherapy designed to help individuals heal from the symptoms and emotional distress resulting from disturbing life experiences.
By using the eyes, hand tapping, or even tactile stimulators, we can help people to heal their stuck, painful, and scary memories of the past. This is an approach that is somatic, structured, and life changing for thousands of people around the world.
Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR focuses on the brain’s natural healing ability, specifically targeting how traumatic memories are stored.
How Does EMDR Work?
EMDR therapy utilizes Bilateral Stimulation (BLS) which occurs through guided visual, auditory, or tactile sensations to activate the Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) model. This process allows the brain to “reprocess” stuck traumatic memories, moving them from a state of emotional reactivity and visceral, vividness, to a state of calm, historical understanding.
Instead of being stuck in the suffering of the past and reliving our trauma, EMDR can help to see them as they were leading to the internalization of positive beliefs of your choosing.

Key Benefits of EMDR Therapy Training:
EMDR is well supported by the research for PTSD as well as anxiety, and depression.
It is effective for PTSD, anxiety, phobias, and complex, developmental trauma.
It’s recognized as a first line treatment for PTSD by reputable organizations such as the WHO and APA.
